We start from our hotel driving to the ceremonial site of Tahai, where our walk begins. We pass the cemetery, walk through the village along the coast and stop at Ana Kai Tangata cave with its paintings. Soon we arrive at Rano Kau where we begin our hike up the extinct volcano, through meadows and little forests, always seeing the beautiful coast and wide Pacific ocean in front of us and appreciating beautiful views over the whole island with its distinct geological features. At the end of our trail we arrive at an outlook with a breathtaking view at the crater lake of Rano Kau. Afterwards you will walk to the ceremonial village of Orongo, where the birdman competition took place and you can see the spectacular petroglyphs related to this culture and the 3 islands situated opposite the coast. Then we drive down by car to Ahu Vinapu (not restored) before we return to the hotel.
