We visit Punta Walichu archaeological site located 8 km from El Calafate. This site has an impressive view of Lake Argentino and serves as a point meeting for this original excursion that manages to interest us in the anthropology and archeology as we look at their geological formation of sedimentary rocks and vegetation of the steppe type. You can see here eaves and natural caves that the man of the Neolithic to leave its traces with paintings that date back to about 4,500 years approximately age, according to research carried out by the Museum of Natural Sciences of La Plata, in 1988. The interpretation path will involve a simple walk of 45 minutes to 1 hour long. There is a sample with fossils, original projectile points, tools and photos of the last Tehuelches. Punta Walichu is a journey through time, in addition to its archaeological value, The beauty of the landscape surprises, ideal to enjoy on its stony coasts.
