TREKKING CERRO TORRE LOOKOUT – HALF DAY

A lovely half day walk that starts directly from the door of your hotel! This option is great for those that don’t have a lot of time and don’t want to have to choose between which mountain they want to see… From this viewpoint you are rewarded with a great panoramic view of Fitz Roy and Torre!

The trek starts with a 10 minute uphill climb in order to leave the valley that El Chaltén is located in. The walk takes you through a lovely lenga forest and affords views of the Fitzroy river canyon running alongside.

While walking don´t forget to look overhead, there may be a condor searching for its next feed! After some more gentle climbing you arrive at the Torre viewpoint. From here you can enjoy the views of the whole Torre Valley and its various terminal moraines from different ice ages, in the foreground.

In the distance you will be able to admire the granite towers of Torre and Fitz Roy and all their satellite mountains.

You will have time to sit here, enjoy the view and listen to some climbing tales that the guide will be able to share with you. Afterwards you will head back along the same path to El Chaltén – this time looking towards the steppe and other mountains!

We suggest you bring: a small backpack, lunch box, water, hat, sunglasses, rain jacket, polar sweater, gloves, sunscreen, trekking shoes.
