All about the NORTHERN CHILOE ISLAND: ANCUD, CORONA LIGHTHOUSE AND AGÜI FORT – FULL DAY.

In this part of the island, where found the first human settlements, between 9.000 and 8.000 years ago, being the first traces of early life development at the archipelago.
At the Puente Quilo Archeological Museum, you can see ancient archeological remains of a nomad tribe, canoeist whom lived in this place 9000 years ago, when started the ice melting here.
Another important fact of the Chiloe Archipelago was the Spanish army fort, to stop the advance of the English, Dutch and French army during the period of conquest and settlement. Becoming the key place of the defense system of this part of the continent.
And during the time of independence, the patriots made huge efforts to incorporate Chiloe Island and Carelmapu, being the north of the island, the last Spanish bulwark on Chilean lands.
The geography of the island exposed to the Pacific Ocean made possible the development of an agricultural and fishing culture of the inhabitants that we`ll see during the tour and because of its location north – south there is a variety of migratory birds all year around that can be watch.
We continue visiting Corona Light house first as a Spanish fort and now, since 1859 is part of the National Lighthouses and Signs Sailing Sistem. Today considered one of the touristic wonders of our country.
In our way back to the continent we`ll stop at Quetalmahue village, here people live from the seaweed harvesting for the agar agar production.

Recommendations: Comfortable clothes and shoes, hat, sunblock, sunglasses and if it rains a water resistant jacket.
