Ibera Wetlands, Future Argentine National Park

A new National Park will be born in the Northeast of Argentina, the Littoral.
As the argentine government announced last year, Ibera Wetlands will become to Ibera National Park. During the next three years, Conservation Land and Trust Foundation will donate lands in Ibera area to National Park Administration. Together, the existing Provincial Park (managed by the government of Corrientes Province) and the new National Park will make Ibera the largest protected area in Argentina. Sometimes called “The Argentine Pantanal”, Ibera means “Shinning water” in Guaraní language and is one of the largest freshwater reservoirs of the world, having a huge importance to South America`s environmental equilibrium.

“Ibera Wetlands will become the new National Park of Argentina”

Although not as well-known as other tourist destinations in Argentina these wetlands are very important due to the variety of native animals and plants that you can find there. The strange landscape supports fabulous wildlife including more than 360 species of birds. In Ibera you will discover caimans called “yacares” in the Guaraní Land, capybaras, pampas deer, swamp deer, howler monkeys, giant otters, anacondas, greater rheas and over four thousand species of birds and plants.

“The most amazing thing is that you will get closer of this animals as you have never been”

Navigation in Ibera Wetlands

But you will not bother them, you have to keep in mind that you are going to visit the animal´s home and they will make you notice that. The same as I have felt in Galapagos Island happens to me once I have visited Ibera. Native animals are at their home and they make you feel as a privilege guest regarding the breathtaking miracle of the nature.
