Morning departure to discover Iquique. The saltpetre cycle between the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century continues to breathe in the streets of Iquique. The architecture of the capital of the region of Tarapacá is a true reflection of the wealth of a city that, at that time, stood out as one of the most important ports of Chile. During this tour we will visit its most important historical and architectural points of interest, including the beautiful Moorish Spanish Casino and Plaza Prat, where the Clock Tower (built in 1877) and the Municipal Theatre (made in 1889 with douglas fir). The walking tour continues with visits to the Regional Museum. with an interesting archaeological sample, and Calle Baquedano, to appreciate the beautiful residences built for the wealthy owners of the Salitreras. To further understand the fundamental historical value of Iquique in the history of Chile we will visit the Caleta Pesquera, which explains one of the most emblematic naval battles of the War of the Pacific (1879-1883) that occurred off the coast of the city and which involved Peruvian and Chilean ships.
