All about the JESUITIC RUINS OF SAN IGNACIO, LORETO AND SANTA ANA – FULL DAY – PRIVATE.

Ruins of San Ignacio: Founded in 1632. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is located 60 Km. From the City of Posadas, and 237 Km. From the Iguazú Falls, by National Route 12 and in the heart of the city of San Ignacio.
Due to its state of conservation, it is one of the missions that presents to the tourist the architectural and urbanistic magnitude of the American Baroque of the 17th century. In the access to the Ruins is the Jesuit-Guaraní Interpretation and Recreation Center, with nine rooms that tell the story from the arrival of the first Spaniards, to the scale model of what were the reductions in their heyday. You can also see the central square, the church, the house of the missionaries, the cemetery, the houses, workshops, warehouses, the hospital, the town hall and the chapel. For the construction a local stone was used, the red sandstone in blocks of great size, large columns that act as support and show the grandeur of the Christian God. The reduction of San Ignacio Mini was built following the plans with which the Society of Jesus built the reductions in other regions of the world. After being recruited by the Jesuits, the indigenous population lived in a makeshift camp and only when everything was finished, the people could move. But no reduction was designed for spontaneous growth and development had a limit: if the population exceeded 6000 inhabitants, the surplus was sent to another reduction that was going through a demographic fall. San Ignacio was able to accommodate 3,300 people.

Ruins of Santa Ana: They are only 45 kilometers away from Posadas and 10 kilometers away from San Ignacio. In this important architectural vestige founded in 1637 and currently settled in the middle of the typical vegetation of the province, despite the advance of the forest, you can still see the steps of the temple and the productive structure of this town where 4,400 Guarani lived. It has the installation of an Interpretation and Support Center.

Ruins of Loreto: The city of Loreto is located 53 kilometers from Posadas, and 6 kilometers from San Ignacio. Its foundation dates from 1632, these ruins are currently deteriorated by the passage of time, even so, the particularity of this mission and there lies its importance, is that there ran the first printing press in America, built by the Jesuits and used for the Guarani where Guarani-Spanish bilingual dictionaries were published. What stands out most are the vestiges of the temple, the clock of the sun and the Chapel of the Virgin of Loreto. An Interpretation and Support Center also operates in the place.
