Being the meeting point, our offices in the tourist dock of Ushuaia, we head in our modern minibuses heading northeast to along National routes 3 & J, on the way to the legendary Estancia Harberton, always accompanied by our specialized guides providing the best information and evacuate any questions that may arise. We sail from Harberton Pier to Isla Martillo, 15 walk minutes, in a semi-rigid boat (ship suitable for navigation in the zone). On the island, we will walk for 1 hour between Papua penguins and Magellanic, always with a guide, experiencing a unique adventure. Penguins settle on the island during the summer, sharing the habitat with other birds, such as skuas (its main predator), petrels, South American cormorants, vultures and terns. Isla Martillo, in the Beagle Channel, is part of the Estancia Harberton, and the home to the Magellanic penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) between September and April. The colony has approximately 1000 nests, and is one of the three colonies of Magellanic penguins in Tierra del Fuego. There is also a smaller colony of 16 pairs of Papua penguins (from red bill – Pygoscellis Papua), unique in South America.
